Services held for Veryl Duwe
Veryl H. Duwe, 76, died at his home near Osterdock on Wednesday, July 13, 1994.
Services were conducted by Carl Borrett at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, where visitation was held on Saturday.
Burial was in Guttenberg City Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Dennis Fredlake, Larry Fox, Lowell Nieman, Arlyn Herzog and Vernon Cherne. Military honors were accorded by the Guttenberg American Legion and Amvets Posts.
Veryl H. Duwe was born in Guttenberg on March 13, 1918, a son of Chris and Elizabeth (Schoper) Duwe. He was baptized May 20, 1918 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg. He attended Guttenberg High School. He served with Squadron 233 of the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a First Lieutenant and as an Army air pilot, he flew missions over Germany. He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Medal of Valor. He was a lifetime farmer, fished commercially and also enjoyed hunting and trapping.
He is survived by a twin brother, Vernon, and family of Weeping Water, Neb., and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
