Son of John Wesley Thompson and Mary Etta Reeder Thompson of Missouri.

** Information from: Find A Grave contributor Ruth Ellen Bartels:

He was first married, on August 25, 1923 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa to Naomi Ruth Powell. The 1925 Iowa state census showed them living with Naomi's mother Melissa (nee Hunter) Powell in Council Bluffs. The 1930 and 1940 censuses showed them in Bartonville, Peoria County, Illinois.

He went by either Steven or Douglas (the records are about evenly split on this). Douglas and Naomi had five children: Virginia Ruth (1924-2012), Carl Edward (1925-2003), William Wesley (b, d. 1930), Vincent Raymond, and Donald Leroy.

Naomi and Douglas obviously divorced sometime after 1940, and he married Freda Bender Thompson after her husband Charles Thompson (no relation that I can tell) died in 1940. Freda died in April of 1950.**

He then married Emma Ruth (Reed) Wheat on July 7, 1950.
