He was married to Miss Caroline S. Kirkpatrick Aug 17, 1854 in Bureau County, Illinois. To this union were born six children, five boys and one girl. Brother Graves has been a lifelong pioneer, having seen Ohio's early days. Later, he stood with the early settlers of Illinois and Iowa, and in 1883 came to Nebraska. He took a homestead in Brown County and bore the hardships of the northwest. For the past twenty-two years he has made his home with his son, George most of the time. Grandma Graves, his faithful companion for fifty-three years, preceded her husband to glory about seven years ago.
