Kenneth D. George, 88, of Ossian passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2018, at Ossian Health & Rehab. Center.
He was born on March 7, 1930, in Hoytville, Ohio to Merritt B. & Bernice (Dermer) George. Ken graduated from Jackson Township High School in Hoytville, Ohio and received a B.S. in Engineering from Indiana Technical College. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Ken worked for 40 years as an engineer for Franklin Electric in Bluffton. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.
On August 28, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Ken and Kathleen “Mickey” (McCormick) were married and she preceded him in death on March 31, 1992. He has been married to Lauretta (Anderson) Borror for the past 25 years.
Survivors include his wife Lauretta of Ossian and children: Julie Kidd of Minneapolis, Tim (Tana) George of Marion, Jeanine Goeglein of Zanesville, IN, Amy George of Craigville, IN Erin (Ed) Wright of Fort Wayne, IN, Megan (Travis) Cover of Indianapolis, IN, Ryan (Melissa) George of Fort Wayne, IN.
He is also survived by 3 step-children: Judy (Terry) Werling of Ossian, Dennis (Linda) Borror of Bluffton and Michael (Lynette) Borror of Nashville, TN. and 12 Grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren
He is also survived by a sister Vivien (Donald) Hills of Torrington, Wyoming.
He is preceded in death by a brother Kermit H. George and a sister Janice Searle.
Calling Hours will be held from 1 -3 on Sunday (March 25th) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will follow calling at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Heather Olson-Bunnell officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton with Military rites by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post #111 of Bluffton. Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or Family Centered Services.
