FUNERAL SERVICES HELD ON SUNDAY FOR WELL KNOWN CORSICANA MAN

Funeral services for Jess C. Speed, aged 44 years, well-known Corsicanan, who died suddenly Saturday night, were held at the Emmett Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock.

Interment in the Emmett cemetery.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Burleson, pastor of the church.

Mr. Speed was a native of Navarro county.

He served in the Navy during the World War I.

He was a well-known rig-builder and oil field worker.

Speed was a deputy sheriff here for several years.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Jess Speed, Jr.; a daughter, Hester Ruth Speed, all of Corsicana; father, E. A. Speed, Corsicana; a brother, Jim Speed, California; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Edmondson, San Angelo.

The Corsicana American Legion had charge of the rites at the grave, and were pallbearers.

Corley Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
