Death of Gen. Mersy, - Gen. August Mersy of this city died of dropsy last Sunday morning. Gen. Mersy entered the army as Lieut. Colonel of the 9th Illinois Mounted Infantry in 1861, and served through the war with distinction. He had been an officer in Europe and was an accomplished soldier. He was followed to the grave on Monday by large numbers of our citizens when eulogies were pronounced by Gen. Wangelin and Col. Niles.
