Mary Virginia was the daughter of Anna Hickman of Greene County, Pa. and Elias McClellan of Fredericktown, Pa. She married Samuel Davis Harn of Fayette County, Pa. February 23, 1864, Mary V. and Samuel married after Samuels discharge from the Civil War. They married at Moravia, Iowa. Mary Virginia had three children, Mrs. Emma Woodruff (deceased) from Peoria, Illinois, Samuel E. Harn of Spencer, Nebraska, (deceased), and the late Frances M. Roberts. Her Obituary lists her as a niece of General George Brinton McClellan. She died four months after her husband of a stroke.
