Patricia Hayes Hall died peacefully on her 86"' birthday, May 18, 2005 at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, California. She was born in Evanston, Illinois to Daniel Gordon Hayes and Blanche Munn Hayes on May 18, 1919.
She was so advanced in her schooling that she and her sister Mary Munn skipped both 4th and 611' grades. She graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, Illinois where she was her Senior Class Vice President.
She married Charles Ramsay Hall January 7, 1939 and moved to California that same year. She had an excellent career in banking at the Bank of America main office in San Jose. There she met Barbara Ambler and they remained life long friends and "pen pals" for some 45 years!
In 1967 after her two sons had graduated from college she and her husband moved to Santa, Cruz where they purchased and operated the Water Street Patio Shop for 12 years before retiring in 1979.
She joined the Soroptimist in 1967 and from that enthusiastic group in 1972 was born the "NIFTY NINERS", a ladies 9 Hole Golf Club at De Laveaga. A charter member, she was chosen "Captain" on two separate occasions and was still playing golf at 82!
She amazed her entire family with her exceptional reading ability, often reading an entire novel in one night.
A special outing for her as she got older was having her younger son Scott, take her to the local library where she regularly brought home a large grocery bag full of books. She loved to read.

Her exceptional, crossword puzzle skills could only be challenged by Mary Munn, her older sister who lives in Fontana, Wisconsin.

Several of her family members have saved some other five and six page letters because they were so beautifully written and just plain "fun to read".

There weren't many who could challenge her quick mind or verbal ability which she possessed up until the day before she died. In her early years she was also a Cub Scout Leader and an active PTA Member.

She had a very close and loving relationship with both of her two sons. The oldest son, Stephen, has lived on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe for some 40 years where he had a career in merchandising and raised his family. He said that he and his MOM'S favorite and most Special Times were when the two of them would sit down at her dining room table and enjoy intelligent meaningful conversation for some 2 to 3 hours! Her youngest son, Scott, started his family in San Diego and had a career in banking, achieving the rank of Vice President. He has since moved to Salinas, California, establishing his own tax practice. He said that he and his mom loved to play scrabble and other board games on a Sunday afternoon where he usually came in "second place".

Patricia is survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Randy Hall of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Robin Hall of So. Lake Tahoe, California, Rachel Hall-Ruptak of Seattle, Washington, Danny Hall-Sharp of Martinsville, Indiana, Heather Hall-Raymond of Martinsville, Indiana and Amy Hall of Martinsville, Indiana.

She was greatly loved and admired by all those who knew her and will be sadly missed. Her final request, from her oldest son Stephen, after being rushed to the emergency room at Dominican Hospital at 7:15 AM was to have a "Hot Fudge Sunday."
