ALGER - Mrs. Amelia Guyton, 93, one of the oldest residents of western Hardin-co, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her son, Grover, Alger, after a two-year illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Reformed church, with the Rev. Frank Klemme officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery.
Mrs. Guyton was the youngest of 18 children of the late David and Sarah Klingler. She was born Feb. 13, 1859, on the farm where the St. Paul's Reformed church and cemetery now are located, west of Ada. The site for both cemetery and church was donated by her father.
She had been a lifelong attendant and charter member of the church.
She had lived in Hardin-co all her life, she and her husband first setting up housekeeping in a log cabin at the rear of the Guyton farm on the Ridge road. They built the present 6-room house of native timber about 64 years ago. Her husband died 26 years ago.
Surviving, besides the son, Grover, are 5 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great, great grandchild.
Friends may call at the home after 6 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements were completed by the Hanson funeral home.
