Dale Austin Danks, 90, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Taylor House Hospice, in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on 10:30 AM, Friday, May 28, 2010 at Grandview Lutheran Church, E. 13th & Hull Ave. Des Moines, with burial following at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Dale was born on July 9, 1919 in Le Claire, Iowa to William Harry Danks and Alma (Slaughter) Danks. Dale graduated from East High in 1938 and was a member of the East High Alumni Association. He entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1941. He was a member of the Grandview Lutheran Church. Also, Dale was a past member of the Pride of Iowa Barbershop Chorus. Dale was a florist and owned Berniece's Flower Shop for 20 years until his retirement.

Dale is survived by his wife, Alberta; daughter Judie (Ray) Morris, Grimes; stepson, Robert (Gayle) Johnson, Urbandale; stepdaughter, Kathy Kahler, Urbandale; three granddaughters, and one grandson; four step-grandsons; and ten great-grandchildren.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Harve Danks; and his first wife, Berniece.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be directed to Grand View Lutheran Church, or East High Alumni Assoc. Foundation to go towards the East High Scholarship Fund.
