Adam Hines, one of the oldest men in the county, died at the residence of his daughter-in-law, in Claridon township, Friday night last. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Kentucky at the age of four years, from there he moved to Ohio and settled in Ross county, from there he came to Marion county and was one of the first settlers and owned the same farm that he entered from the government. He was one of our best and most respected citizens. He leaves a large circle of friends who deeply feel the loss of a father and friend. They have the sympathy of this entire community. He was one of the old soldiers of 1812, and a life long Democrat and honest in all his transactions. Source: David Hines
