Funeral services for James Gardner, age 85, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, at First Baptist Church, New Summerfield, with the Rev. Dr. Edwin Crank and the Rev. David Hellwig officiating.

Burial will be held at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Gardner passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, in Jacksonville.

He was born July 14, 1924, in Queen City.

Mr. Gardner was a member of First Baptist Church, New Summerfield. He was also a member of the Jacksonville Masonic Lodge No. 108 AF&AM, and the Sharon Temple Shriners.

Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn McMahon; and a brother, John Paul Gardner.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Greenwood Gardner, Jacksonville; daughters, Peggy Marie Grahn and husband Richard of Flint, Sue Langley and husband Joe of Centerville, Gayle Gardner Mauldin of Jacksonville; brother, Maurice Gardner and wife Lazelle of Queen City; sisters, Frances Grant of Dallas and Nancy McCarthy of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jim McMahon, Russell Langley, Judd Langley, Chris Hawkins, Jason Hawkins and Randy Dudley.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Henry Brazier, James Oscar Greenwood, G. A. Dotson, Joe Langley, Richard Grahn, Ronny Lee and James Grahn, grandson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
