BRONSON–Benjamin B. Bronson, age 88, of Florence died on Oct. 15, 2008 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Bronson was born on Feb. 12, 1920, in Burley, Idaho. His family later moved to Florence. At Tahkenitch Lake he met June Vincent. They were married on Dec. 5, 1938. He served his country as a radio technician during World War II in the Siam Company. During the war his wife and children lived with relatives. Following the war the Bronsons moved back to Florence where Ben worked for 60 years as a carpenter and contractor. He partnered with his son Charles. At one time they worked on a building project in Brunei, Borneo. He was active in the Florence community and was a member of the Florence Boosters and helped with the Rhododendron Festival and other events. He also was a member of the Elks and was active in the LDS church. Ben and June enjoyed 68 years of marriage before her death on Dec. 25, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Basil of Creswell, Ore., and Charles of Utah; one daughter, Susan Jackley of Estacada, Ore.; and a sister, Violet of Beaverton, Ore. There was a private family viewing on Oct. 18. No services are planned. Interment was on Oct. 20. Arrangements by Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
