SHOCKEY, Gladys Ellen age 80, of Hamilton, died on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She was born on January 11, 1930, in Brookville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Milton and Mattie (Shiplet) Smith. She graduated from Bethesda Nursing School in 1953. In Brookville, Indiana, on December 24, 1953, Gladys married her husband of over 33 years, Thomas J. Shockey, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1986. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and she was employed at Ft. Hamilton Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 50 years until her retirement in 2003. Gladys is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Teri) Shockey, and Theodore Shockey; two daughters, Ann (Tom) Perkins and Susan (Wally) Blevins; seven grandchildren, Chad J. (Alison) Hyde, Thomas J. Shockey, II, Katherine C. Shockey; John L. Shockey, Sarah E. Blevins, James E. Shockey and Rachel A. Blevins; two great-grandchildren, Chloe A. Hyde and Isabella R. Hyde; sister, Lucy Dorrel; brother, Cletus (Ned) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hiram and John Smith; and two sisters, Anna Mae Doran and Mary Allen. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Winters, Dr. Manitsas, Dr. Sternberg and Dr. Herzig. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Burial will follow at Oxford Cemetery.
