Ettie Vrieze, daughter of Keone and Dena (Lammers) Vrieze, was born at Bellingwalde, Holland, May 11, 1880. She died at her home in Denver, September 5, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 24 days. She was married to Albert John Kolk on September 25, 1899 at Bellingwalde, Holland. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1937.
To this union were born 10 children, who were all present at the services. They are Mrs. Dena Brunsdon of Longview, Washington; Mrs. Marie Riffle of Denver, Mrs. Carolyn Graham of Lomita, California; Mrs. Gertrude Rathe of Fremont, Nebraska, Mrs. Angie Neuschwanger of Brush, Mrs. Margaret Beach of Eckley, Mrs. Ida Price of Denver, John A. Kolk of Longview, Washington George H. Kolk of Denver and Conrad A. Kolk of Denver.

She moved with her husband and two children from Holland to Sterling, Nebraska, in 1903. From there they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where they lived until moving to Eckley in 1927. They operated a hotel in Eckley for many years. She continued the business after her husband's death. In 1942 she moved to Denver. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sterling, Nebraska.

Her sudden death was a great shock to her family and many friends. Besides her children she is survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a great number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Eckley Church on Sunday, September 9, 1951 and burial was in the Eckley Cemetery.
Name was changed from Vrieze to Frieze.
