Naturalization Records: Born in Germany in the Dukedom of Baden, 1804 (actually 1801 -Ed); emmigrated from Le Havre to Lewes, Delaware on 16th Dec 1827 then to New York, naturalized on 31 Nov 1831. (family lore has his ship landing first in Lewes in need of repair)

Ship's Manifest: Arrived Port of New York 29 Dec 1827 on the French Brig Deux Ernest, Capt. A. LeBeun, Joseph 25 years old. (actually 26 -Ed)

Joseph, Jeanette, and their son Henry were originally buried at Monument Cemetery in Philadelphia. Their remains were relocated to Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge in 1956 upon the closure of Monument Cemetery and its acquisition by Temple University.
