Dorothy A. Severson, 79, of Waterloo, died Friday, May 21 at Covenant Medical Center following a stroke.
She was born May 19, 1931 in Smithwick, South Dakota, daughter of George and Martha Wellner Distler. She married Henry J. "Hank" Severson on December 15, 1948 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. he died August 20, 1968.
Mrs. Severson graduated from High School in Medical Lake, Washington, and received her sevretary certificate from Hawkeye Institute of Technolgy. She worked as a mother and homemaker and outside the home in a number of different occupations.
Survived by three sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) of Marshalltown, Mark (Vivian) of Winter Park, Florida, and Dave (Laura) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Karla (Thomas) Chorney and Lisa (Scott) Levendusky, both of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, Mark Severson, David Severson, Zachary Severson, Natalie Severson, Ashlea Reiter, Kaitlyn Reiter, Hannah Reiter, AJ Levendusky, Shelby Levendusky, Jenny (Glenn) Symonds, Chad Engel, and Michelle Engel; nine great-grandchildren, Janiyah Severson, Jayde Cutsforth, Kellen Reyerson, Lauren Severson, Jack Severson, Zach Symonds, Aaron Symonds, Ryan Symonds, and Nathan Symonds; and one brother, David (Thelma) Distler of Priest River, Idaho.
Preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Vera Clark, and Mildred in infancy.
Family inurnment in Union Mound Cemetery, Sumner. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home.
