Leonard Vito Tedesco was born March 21, 1946 to a young Pentecostal preacher named Vito Tedesco and his beautiful wife, Esther. As the years went by Vito and Esther had 3 sons, with Lenny, Richard and Johnny. For many years they resided in Akron, Ohio until in later years they settled in Pennsylvania. Leonard grew up raised on the " Good Book" and as a preachers son, learned about Jesus at his fathers knee and in the pulpit at church. With Esther as his help mate, Vito raised all his sons the same way. It was this instillment in his heart, that as Leonard came into becoming a man, he came to a cross roads and by choice, answered the alter call and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He too, had intended to go into the Ministry as his father had and had met a young Christian girl and fell in love with her and they became engaged. However, with the raging war in Viet Nam, Leonard received his call from Uncle Sam and on Augest 23, 1966 began his tour of duty in Viet Nam. He served his country with courage and bravery as a Private First Class in K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry, USARV as a armor reconnaissance specialist and was so happy that soon he would only have " one more battle" and then he would be home; planning to go to seminary and marry his fiance. That was not to be...for it was in this final battle that Leonard lived his final day on earth when he met with hostile surroundings and an active mine and in an instant, he was killed, a victim of multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered and returned to the States. He was survived by his loving parents and his brothers and interred in a mauseleum in Pennsylvania that is unknown to me. Since that time his parents relocated to Pennsylvania and lived on until both went Home not only to be with their Precious Lord but with their beloved son, Lenny; Rest in Paradise Lenny, Uncle Vito and Aunt Esther...
