Funeral services are set for Sunday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Brick -Meger funeral Home, 1603 Austin Rd., Owatonna, with the Rev. James Oberg of Associated church officiating the afternoon service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
Phyllis was born Aug. 14, 1927, the daughter of Ruben and Celia (Ruesink) Staplekamp in Bristol Township, Fillmore County, Minn. She attended school in Iowa where her family lived for several years. The family relocated to Harmony, Minn. She met Cecil Farnsworth and on Dec. 31, 1944, they were united married at United Methodist Church in Rochester. The couple made their home in Rochester raising six daughters. Phyllis was a homemaker and was busy raising her daughters. In 1972 the couple moved to Owatonna with their family. Phyllis was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary. Her life interests include spending time with her family and visiting with friends, reading, shopping and watching T.V.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Sherry (John) Tietz, Linda (Orv) Woodruff, Dawn Gary, all of Rochester, Debra (Ward) Brossoit of Stewartville, and Jane (Todd) Tacheny of Owatonna. Phyllis is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and brother Dean Staplekamp of Spokane, Wash.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 2008, a daughter Jill Kukacha, two brothers and one sister. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
