Gary Dickey Rites Set for Wichita

The body of Gary Lynn Dickey, 21, who was killed at Da Nag Air Base July 15, will be returned to Wichita for services and burial

Dickey, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Dickey, 757 N. Gow Ave., died of "multiple gunshot wounds" when another Marine guard on the Da Nag defense line apparently shot him. A mechanic in the 3rd Marine Division, Dickey had been in Viet Nam since March.

Dickey was born and reared in Wichita and attended North High School. Before joining the Marines in 1963, he had worked at the Kinney Shoe Store downtown. He took his boot camp training at San Diego and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He was sent to Okinawa in September of 1964, and in March was sent to Viet Nam.

Dickey was a member of Westlink Church of Christ.

Survivors besides his parents include his widow, Susan; a sister, Mrs. Regina Dunbar, Marion, Kan.; a brother, Terry, at home; and his grandfathers, James Lee Dickey, Harrison, Ark., and John L. Taylor, Bentonville, Ark.

Cochran Mortuary has charge.
