Tamara was a native Texas, born in Memphis, Hall County, Texas to Nellie Jon and Dan C. Baldwin, who survived her. Following graduation from Abilene High School she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Texas Tech University in 1967. In 1977 she moved to Austin. Her talents and interests led to employment at Electronic Data Systems, IBM and Measurement Incorporated. She devoted much time to working at Live Oak Theater and was for some time manager of the Chromatics, an Austin band. She was also an active member of the Austin Music Commission. Along with other community projects she delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Along with her wide range of other interests, Tamara joined Austin Genealogical Society, and served as President for two years, 1994 and 1995.
