Last rites were held Monday, Nov. 20, for James L. Bain, a pioneer citizen of Hall and Donley counties, in the First Methodist Church at Clarendon.

A number of relatives and friends of the family from Memphis and Hall county attended the funeral.

Bain died in a Pampa hospital Sunday morning. He had lived in Hall and Donley counties since 1896. He taught the old Rowe school west of Hedley and was in the dry goods business in Hedley for several years. He later became County Judge of Donley county. He also went in for farming and ranching before he retired.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church.

The Rev. John A. English, pastor of the Clarendon First Methodist Church conducted the services.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Bain, two daughters, Mrs. C.S. Boston, Mrs. Rex Howell, three sons, Gordon Bain, J.I. Bain, and Woodrow Bain; one brother, J.L. Bain of Hedley.
