DAVID JONES HEDGES was born on March 17, 1827 in Wheeling, Ohio County, Virginia (now West Virginia), the son of Moses Hedges and Nancy Anderson (Jones) Hedges. David J. Hedges grew to manhood farming the land beside his father there in Virginia.
David was married to Elizabeth B. Ward on Jan. 22, 1851 in Wheeling, Virginia (now WV). Elizabeth was born on Dec. 8, 1833 in Wheeling, Virginia, the daughter of John Ward and Harriet (Wheeler) Ward. Several children were born to David and Elizabeth including;
1. John Clinton Hedges, born May 21, 1853
David and Elizabeth moved west with his parents sometime after the birth of their first child in 1853 and before the birth of their second child in 1856. There they settled in Woodford County, Illinois.
David died in Panola Township of Woodford County at the age of 41 Yrs. 1 M. 28 Days on May 14, 1868. His earthly remains were laid to rest in the Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery. Elizabeth died on March 29, 1873. Her earthly remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband.
