Nancy Nahikian

Nancy Blanton Nahikian, 94, of Raleigh, N.C. died Oct. 12, 2003, at Rex Hospital.

Nancy was a native of Marion, N.C. and the daughter of the late J. D. Blanton and Nancy Davis Fleming Blanton.

She was a graduate of Meredith College and was a teacher in Newland and Selma before moving to Raleigh in 1936. Nancy was an active member of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh for more than 60 years and was a member of the Homemakers and Thimble Clubs of Raleigh.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Howard M. "Nic" Nihikian in 1989.

Surviving are her two daughters, Dottie N. Poulos of Oakton, Va. and Sarah Rountree of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Nancy Graf of Oakton, Va. Lisa Gilbert of Clermont, Fla., David Rountree of Los Angeles, Calif. and Benji Rountree of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Michael J. Graf III of Oakton, Va. and Ryan and Anna Gilbert, of Clermont, Fla.; and two sisters, Emily and Josephine Blanton of Marion.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Pullen Memorial.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, 1801 Hillsborough St. Raleigh, N.C. 27605 or Hospice of Wake County, 1300 Saint Mary's St. Raleigh, N.C. 27605 or to the charity of one's choice.

Born in McDowell County, N.C., February 16, 1909, Nancy Fleming Blanton Nahikian was the daughter of John Dobbins Blanton and Nancy Davis Fleming Blanton.

Nancy had four years of college, been married and had resided in Raleigh, N.C., Wake Co., before her death.

On October 12, 2003, Raleigh, Wake County, N.C., Nancy Fleming Blanton Nahikian, a widow, died at the age of 94, at as a Hospital Inpatient, at Rex Health Care Center.
