Listed as wagon maker, carpenter, and farmer in census records. Nathan, Amy and family came from Ohio (Upper Springfield MM) to Iowa (Western Plain MM) in October of 1856 and moved frequently between Quaker monthly meeting (MM) locations in IA over the next 15 years. These included Western Plain, Honey Creek, Rocksylvania, Red Cedar/Springdale, Bloomington, New Sharon, and South River MM's. He was a charter member (CM) at Rocksylvania MM in Hardin County. Nathan and Amy had seven children.

Divorced prior to 1880, Nathan had four children to second wife, Dorcas Helen Fisher (aka Dora, aka Ella). She was daughter of Isaac and Margaret (Wilson) Fisher who were also interred here.

Birth year for Nathan is 1824 on marker. Quaker and census records indicate 1825.
