PIONEER OF NORTH OGDEN IS DEAD

James Barker, 88 years old, died of general debility at the family home in North Ogden this morning at 5:30 o'clock. He hab been ill only about three and one-half weeks.
Mr. Barker is a pioneer resident of North Ogden and greatly respected in that community. He was born in Diss, England, April 1, 1827, the son of Frederick and Ann Bigh Barker.
His wife, Mrs. Polly E. Blodgett Barker, died five years ago. Mr. Barker was a prominent worker in the L.D.S. church and at one time acted as counselor to Bishop Holmes of North Ogden. He also was active in upbuilding of schools in North Ogden.
The following children survive: Newman H., Joseph, Lyman and Mrs. Harriett L. Shaw of North Ogden; Mrs. Mary A. Garner, Preston, Ida., Mrs. Sallie A. Park, Clearfield; Mrs. Polly E. Davis of Farr West; also the following brothers and sisters; Henry, Sr., of North Ogden; Byron of Willard, Mrs. Harriet Chase of Ogden and Ms. Jane Dursee of Alamo, Idaho. Thirty-nine grandchildren survive.

BARKER- The funeral of James Barker will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the North Ogden ward meeting house and interment will be in the North Ogden cemetery. The body may be viewed at the residence in North Ogden tomorrow from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday until the funeral hour.
