Pauline Jones Polk, age 84, of Teague and formerly of Leona, passed away in the Mexia hospital on June 18, 2009.

Pauline was born in Leon County to the late Sam Jones Sr. and Eugene Wynn. She was a lifelong resident of Leona and the Leona area, having moved to Teague only recently to live with a daughter. She and her husband, the late James A. Polk, had 14 children; 13 of which are still living. She was a housewife, mother and homemaker most of her long life. In her later years, she did work outside of the home as a caregiver at the Dyer Vocational School in Leona for about 8 years and, then for about 5 years as a nurse's aide in the Madisonville Nursing Home. She was also a longtime and faithful member of the Two-Mile United Methodist Church and a member of the "Starlight Community Singers".

In addition to her parents, her husband and an infant child, Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Otis Wynn, Rev. Jessie Wynn, Jessie Lee Jones, David B. Jones and Carl Jones; sister, Magnolia Wilder.

Surviving family includes nine sons, James (Joainer) Polk Jr. of Dallas, J.C. Polk of Dallas, Clyde (Joyce) Polk of DeSoto, Paul Polk of Dallas, Matthew Polk of Dallas, Daniel (Therissa) Polk of Dallas, Barnard (Sheila) Polk of Dallas, Preston Polk of Dallas and Carl Polk of Dallas; daughters, Errma Jean Jefferson of Washington D.C., Gloria Polk of Dallas, Eva Polk of Teague and Patricia Brown of Dallas; brothers, Earl Wynn of Dallas and Sam "Junior" Jones Jr. of Normangee; sisters, Ida Reed and Della Johnson, both of Leona, Florine Chambers of Dallas, Mary Alice Lankford of Lancaster and Ethel Mae Sanders of Normangee; 35 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Two-Mile United Methodist Church east of Leona on FM 977. She will be buried in the Two-Mile Paradise Cemetery.

Walters Funeral Home in Centerville will be handling all arrangements.
