Obituary -- John Bixby
John Bixby, 101, Frontier Nursing Home in Longview, Wash., died Saturday, Oct 8, at the nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 11, at Glende-Johnson-Nelson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, with son-in-laws Rev. John Siemers and Rev. Glenn Emmert officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Amor Township.
The son of Jacob and Gertrude Bixby, he was born Dec 26, 1882, at Owatonna. At an early age, he moved to Fergus Falls. He resided in this area for 86 years farming and teaching school, and he was Otter Tail county assessor for many years.
He and Cora Epler Davis were married in Dead Lake Township in 1910. She died in 1944.
