Ralph M. Nickerson, 64, of Staples Street, died Sunday afternoon following an illness of 10 weeks. He is survived by his wife, Louise Schumann Wiedemann Nickerson; a daughter, Mrs. Norman Luedtke of Kingston; two sons, Carl of West Camp, and Floyd of Hurley; a step-daughter, Mrs. Albert Tegart of Kingston; a brother, Wilmer S. Nickerson of Kingston; and 14 grandchildren.
Mr. Nickerson was born in East Kingston but resided here for 55 years. He was engaged as a marine engineer most of his life. A faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, he also belonged to the Men’s Club of the church, giving many hours to the work they carried on.
The funeral will be held from the Jenson and Deegan Funeral Home, 15 Downs Street, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Montrepose Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Monday and Tuesday.

Funeral services for Ralph M. Nickerson of Staples Street, who died suddenly on Sunday, will be held at the Jenson and Deegan Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ernest L. Witte, pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Nickerson was a member and had served faithfully as member of the council for many years, officiating.
Members of the church will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home in a body to conduct a memorial prayer service. Friends may call at the parlors between 3 and 5 and 7 and 9 p.m. today.

Funeral notice on 21 Oct 1954:

The funeral of Ralph M. Nickerson, of Staples Street, who died Sunday, was held from the Jenson & Deegan Funeral Home yesterday at 2 p.m. The services, which were largely attended, were in charge of the Rev. Ernest L. Witte, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Nickerson had been a member for many years, and where he had served as an officer in many capacities. At the time of his death Mr. Nickerson was a member of the official board of the church.

Hundreds of friends, relatives and neighbors visited the funeral home to pay their respects and to offer words of sympathy to members of the family. Many floral tributes and memorial and sympathy cards were received. On Tuesday evening the official board of Immanuel Lutheran Church called at the funeral home in a body and were led in a prayer service by the Rev. Ernest L. Witte.

Bearers were Raymond Saehloff, Frederick Peters, Walter King, John Nickerson, Elias Nickerson and Raymond Nickerson. Burial was in the family plot in Montrepose Cemetery where the Rev. Mr. Witte conducted the service.
