Mance McBryde is the son of Robert McBryde and Nancy Story-McBryde. He is the grandson of Mancel McBryde and Jane Gore-McBryde.

Mance married Lizzie Gower in November 1902. They had sseven children:

After marriage Mance carried Lizzie to the McBryde ranch that had been in the family since the 1880s, and where he had been raised, about one mile southwest of Ding Dong Bridge on the Lampasas River.

Following the 1930s, the McBrydes continued to ranch. After Mance's death in 1952, Lizzie sold the ranch to Ovid Youngblood of Waco, and moved to Briggs, TX, west of Florence. She lived there until her death in 1973.
