David L. Lassiter, 62, of Dukedom, died July 12, 2004, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at New Salem Baptist Church in Dukedom with the Rev. Rick Walker officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery in Weakley County. Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lassiter was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Weakley County, the son of the late Samuel Buton and Alma Gertrude Mathis Lassiter. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. He had retired as a truck driver for the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Teamsters -- The Eagles of Akron. He lived in Akron, Ohio, for 32 years and returned to Dukedom in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Webb Lassiter of Dukedom; a son, David K. Lassiter of Sharon; a daughter, Jacqueline Gardner of Sharon; a stepson, John M. Robertson of South Fulton; a brother, Leslie Lassiter of Nova, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four nephews.
