Posted Mar 2, 2018 at 12:01 AM

Irene Wyatt Cook, 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial celebration of her life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3 at Columbia First Assembly of God, officiated by her grandson, Rev. Tracy Cook, and grandson-in-law, Rev. Paul Rose. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, at the church.

She was born March 21, 1920, in Boone County to Tommie E. and Goldie B. (Turner) Wyatt.

Jack H. Cook and Irene were married August 3, 1944. He preceded her in death July 1, 1964.

Irene was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother, and she was a delight to countless friends, family, and coworkers. She often referred to her modest home as the “Do Drop Inn,” welcoming anybody and everybody with heaping helpings of Boone County home cooking and a spot on the front porch. She worked at many grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants in Columbia for many decades.

She was a member of Columbia First Assembly of God.

Her “little” family meant the whole world to her.

Irene is survived by her son and his wife, Darrell and Connie Cook of Columbia; grandchildren, Tracy and wife, Joy Cook, and Kim and husband, Paul Rose; great-grandchildren, Hannah Cook, Abbie Cook, Emily Rose, and Zachary Rose; and brothers, Roy Richard Wyatt and Robert Leycester Wyatt.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Porter Wilson Wyatt, in 1917, and Rufus Donald Wyatt, in 2016.
Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia First Assembly of God, 1100 N Seventh Street, Columbia, Mo. 65201 or cfachurch.us.
