1.) WIGHT.
At her home in Lamoni, Iowa, March 6, 1899, of pneumonia, Mrs. Eliza Wight, aged 66 years, 2 months, and 12 days. Her maiden name was Leyland. She was born December 24, 1832, in Liverpool, England. She joined the Latter Day Saints in England in 1841, emigrated to America in I8*2, locating at Nauvoo,

Her father died soon after her arrival, and she was left an orphan at the age of 16, by the death of her mother. Two years later, her only brother passed away. She went to Texas in 1845 in the company led by Lyman Wight.

In 1853 she was married to Lyman Lehi Wight. To this union 8 children were born, four of whom preceded the deceased to the beyond, and four, two sons and two daughters remain to mourn her loss.

The family remained in Texas until 1866, experiencing the hardship of frontier life. Then they came to Missouri, locating after various moves, in Harrison County, in 1882.

Deceased joined the Reorganized L.D.S. in 1865. The family came to Lamoni about a year ago, the father and husband dying in 1895.

The life of the deceased was full of tribulation and she learned fully the lesson of sublimely patient resignation--the richest legacy given by a divine instructor to a willing pupil.

The funeral was from the home, March 8, '99 at 10 a.m. Elder H.A. Stebbins offered prayer; Elder R. S. Salyards preached the funeral sermon and offered prayer at the grave. A rest for a weary and worn frame was found in Rose Hill.
