Former Missoula resident Fred Tripp, 91, died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug.12, in a Colville, Wash., nursing home.
He was born Feb. 25, 1896, in Badoura, Minn., to Charles and Kate Tripp. Reared in Minnesota, he served in the Army during World War I and returned to Minnesota after his discharge.
In 1919 he married Wilma S. Sharp in Minnesota. The couple lived at Dora Lake, Minn., where Mr. Tripp worked in the logging industry.
After moving to Missoula in 1952, the Tripps owned a restaurant for a time before Mr. Tripp joined Intermountain Lumber.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Hiram; and a daughter, Florence.
Survivors include four sons, Ronald, Wickenburg, Ariz.; Fred Jr. and Harvey, both of Kettle Falls, Wash.; and Richard, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Sonja Cheek, Missoula; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Malletta & Geraghty Funeral Home with the Rev. David Graff officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospital for crippled Children in Spokane.
