Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Ken Wright Lawson Sr., 89, of Crossville, passed away May 24, 2010. Funeral services were held May 26 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott White officiating. Interment was in Mayland Cemetery next to his wife, Bonnie, and son, Kenny Jr. Military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Lawson was born April 9, 1921, in Corryton, the son of A.T. Lawson and Mary Sherdlie (Sutton) Lawson.
He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, Occupied Japan and the Korean War.
After his retirement from the Navy he moved with his wife and children from California to Crossville and lived out his life as a farmer and craftsman in wood carving with Bonnie.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Brackstone) Lawson of Crossville; daughters, Kay Hoehn of Clarksville, Dee Easterly of Mayland and Zel Kearley of Mayland; sister, Carrie Wyrick of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jacob, Johann, Chuck, Janice, Kirby, Karl and Amy; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Casey, Logan, Gabriel, Zoe and Tasha; and great-great-grandchild, Cayden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Bonnie Rosemary (Gose) Lawson; son, Ken Lawson, Jr.; brother, Drewey Lawson; and sisters, Stella Anderson, Arkie Sewell, Nellie Lawson, Blanche Norton and Bertha Lawson.
Pallbearers were Doyle Easterly, Kirby Easterly, Karl Easterly, Larry Hoehn, A.J. Lawson, Tommy Wyrick, Chuck Newberry, Jacob Hoehn, Johann Hoehn and Michael Kearley.
