Wiley C. Singletary Jr., died Aug. 30, in Bryson City, N.C. He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Grand Ridge, Fla., he was a son of W.C. and Mary Singletary. On June 15, 1941, he married his sweetheart, Alyne Hill. They eventually made their home in Thomasville and lived here 62 years. Failing health had taken them in recent years to Bryson City. He lived a colorful life and regaled his family and friends these many years with stories of the Cohassee Plantation in Jackson County, Fla. and the many money-making ventures of his youth. He was a loyal employee of Flowers Baking Co. for 30 years. After retirement he enjoyed tending his yard, his grapevines, pear trees and fishing. He and his wife made it their mission to try to catch every fish at Lake Riverside, where they lived for many years. He was a man who adored his wife and showed her every day how much he loved her. He was the best, most-loving daddy any children could ever hope for.
