JOSEPH G. ORMSBY

Joseph G. Ormsby, one of Martinsburg's best known citizens, died at his home on West Allegheny street, Martinsburg, Wednesday night. His death came unexpectedly, for although he had been in ill health for the past two years he was at no time confined to his bed, but was able to move about the house without assistance.

He was born February 16, 1852, in Pittsburg, the son of Dr. Oliver H. and Elizabeth Jane Hoffa Ormsby. He was married August 17, 1875, to Miss Caroline Lytle, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, one son, Joseph G. Ormsby, Jr., Martinsburg, and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Almost all of his life was spent in Pittsburg, where he was associated with the Low Pressure Gas company, and also was prominently identified with the real estate business for a number of years. He retired from active business in 1910, and with his wife and son went to Martinsburg to live.

He was a life long member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral service will be conducted in the Gibson Memorial Presbyterian church in Martinsburg, this afternoon at 2:30. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery.

Published in the Altoona Tribune (Altoona, Pennsylvania) - Saturday, June 28, 1930.
