Hiram Powers, eldest son of Wynam and Marie Powers, was born in Medina county, Ohio, June 30, 1827; died June 16, 1909, aged 81 years, 11 months and 16 days.
In 1851 he was married to Minnie Magoon, and to them were born three children, who, with the mother have departed this life. In 1901 he was married to Nancy Gavette who survives him. He came to Michigan in 1864 settling in Woodbridge and resided there and in Cambria until 1901 when he moved to Ohio near the home of his childhood. Three years ago he came to Cambria and settled in his old home where he spent his closing days. In January he had a cancer removed from the bottom of his right foot and was a great sufferer but bore his suffering with great fortitude. He also had a stroke of paralysis which, with his old age, made his recovery hopeless.
He was the first to be taken out of the nine old gentlemen over 80 who had their pictures taken together last fall.
He leaves a wife, one grandson, one brother and three sisters to mourn.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Friday afternoon, Rev. Warner officiating.
