Farrell was reared in Cedar City and attended Cedar City Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War Following his marriage, they resided in Milford, Utah for fourteen years, later moving to Enterprise and moving to Washington in 1971. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church. He had been employed by the Bureau of Land Management.
Survivors include his wife of Washington, a son Carl Murie of SL George, and three daughters, Mrs. John "Linda" Hiatt of Kearns, Utah, Mrs. Colleen Tipton of Washington, Utah and Mrs. Gary "Annette" Humphrey of Cedar City, Utah-- Six Grandchildren-- a brother Don Murie of Utah, and three sisters Mrs. Jim "Kathrynn" Applegate and Bryant "Belva" Anderson both of Cedar City, Utah and Mrs. Roland Anderson of St. George, Utah.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday at 12 noon in the Washington Stake Center under direction of Metcalf Mortuary interment was in the Washington City Cemetery.
He was married to Leah Pickering (1924-2011) on May 24, 1946.
