DEATH OF EMILY POMEROY PITTS

Emily Pomeroy was born in Bucklin, Mass., April 1, 1828. During her early life the Pomeroy family moved to East Bloomfield, and in 1849 Miss Emily was married to William R. Pitts, a prosperous Honeoye farmer, and during their residence in Richmond five children were born to them. Benton, Perz R., Emily Pomeroy, William R. Jr. and Charles. In 1881 the Pitts family, with the exception of Benton and William R. Jr., moved to Kansas, and here Mr. Pitts died in 1893. The following year Mrs. Emily Pitts Stoddard, the onlv daughter, died very suddenly of pneumonia. In 1896, Perz R. was killed in a flour mill at Abilene, Kansas, and in 1903 Benton died in Canandaigua. Of recent years, Mrs. Pitts had made her home with her son Charles at Hope, Kansas, in East Bloomfield and in Detroit. She died at the home of her son William in Detroit, after an illness of twenty seven hours of pneumonia. Interment was made at Abilene. She is survived by one brother, Enos Pomeroy of Ann Arbor, one niece, one nephew, two sons, twenty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In East Bloomfield, Wednesday, Oct. 30th, by Rev. Henry H. Kendall, Mr. Wm. R. Pitts of Richmond to Miss Emily B., daughter of Calvin Pomeroy, Esq., of the former place.Emily was the daughter of Calvin's second wife Frannie Brooks.
