Rebecca Shepperd Rites Held Friday
Funeral services were Friday for Mrs. Rebecca Kay Shepperd, 86, of Comstock. Mrs. Shepperd died June 8, 1976 at Hastings, Nebraska after being hospitalized for the past month.
The Rev. Michael Friend, Lincoln, officiated at the 10 a.m. rites at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Interment was in the Douglas Grove Cemetery with concluding rites by the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rebecca Kay Shepperd, the daughter of William M. and Elnora Donham Hill, was born July 4, 1889 at Arcadia, Nebraska. Her early life was spent on the family farm near Arcadia where she attended the Donham rural school. She then attended Kearney State Teachers College, after which she taught rural school for seven years in Valley County. On December 28, 1913 she was united in marriage to Leslie Hall Shepperd at Ord, NE. After marriage they made their home on a farm in Valley County until 1944 when they retired and moved to Comstock.
Mrs. Shepperd was a member of the Reorganized Church of Christ Latter Day Saints Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the local Birthday Club.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Virginia Marsh; Mrs. Doris Maresh both of Lincoln, Nebraska; one son, Leslie of Comstock; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen Hill of Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1952, one son and one infant son.
