Co E 17th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry was consolidated with other companies to form the 9th Reg't Mississippi Cavalry. David was in Co C 9th Reg't.
He enlisted May 14, 1862 Perry Co Miss by Capt Evans for period of war.

1902 Pension Application -
David stated he'd been wounded at Dakata, Georgia, a flesh wound - had spent abt 3 years in the war - was absent abt 9 mounths because of the wound - company surrendered in South Carolina - occupation was farming - lived alone - a life long resident of Jackson Co MS.
