He was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Erwin, Texas, to John Charles Bacon and Maysell Grace Hunter Bacon.
He had lived in Topeka for 15 years. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 20 years before he retired.
He married Helen Irene Guinn on March 16, 1943, in Jonesboro, Tenn. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Norman Bacon and wife, Kathleen, Topeka; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Norman Vines Bacon will lie in state at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
