Edwin Gring was the eldest son that took over the family furniture and undertaking business from his father John Albert.

Edwin Gring Boyer, 83, of 1006 Main St., Rural Valley, died unexpectedly at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday of an apparent heart attack in his daughter's Barnesboro home. He was born April 27, 1886, in Plumcreek Township to John Albert and Ida Elizabeth (Wagle) Boyer. His late wife was the former Christina McLachlan. Mr. Boyer was associated with his father as a funeral director and merchant until 1935 when his father died. He continued as a merchant until his death. He was a member and past elder of Hope Presbyterian Church, Rural Valley, charter member of Rural Valley Lions Club, Rural Valley Volunteer Fire Company and Armstrong County Funeral Directors Association. He belonged to Rural Valley Odd Fellows, Armstrong County and Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association and was an honorary member of Rural Valley Cemetery Association.

Surviving are three sons, Robert A., New Wilmington RD 1, and Harold E and Daniel C., both of Rural Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Jean Longwill, Barnesboro, one sister, Mrs. Dessie P. McClarren, Yatesboro; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Friends of Edwin Gring Boyer, 1006 Main St., Rural Valley, who died Dec. 24, 1969, may call at the Roy W. Carson Funeral Home, Rural Valley. The body will kie in State at Hope Presbyterian Church, Rural Valley, from noon until the 1 p.m. Saturday service conducted by the Rev. Arthur R. Kaufman. Burial will be in Rural Valley Cemetery. Arrangements by Carson.
