Funeral Services for Canal Victim Will Be Saturday
Funeral services for 5-year-old Verle O'Dell Shirley, who was drowned in Ridenbaugh canal near the main line station Thursday, will be conducted at 3 o'clock Saturday afteroon at the Schreiber and McCann chapel.
The Rev. Albert E. Martin of the Immanuel Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Morris Hill cemetery.
The lad was drowned when he slipped and fell into the canal Thursday morning while attempting to get a bucket of water. The body was recovered several hours later by a group of boys who were swimming in the canal.
Surviving the boy are his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Huston M. Shirley; three brothers, Darrell, Eldon and Allen; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O.T. Shirley of Boise, and a grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Halterman of Twin Falls.
