Dexter Daily Statesman

Irene Willis, daughter of the late Alfred and Veda Whitledge Denny, was born on Oct. 30, 1920 in Idalia and died on May 10, 2010, in the Golden Living Facility at Bloomfield at the age of 89.

Mrs. Willis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a retired case worker for the Department of Family Services in Bloomfield and a resident of Dexter.

On April 12, 1941 she was united in marriage to James Hugh Willis in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Willis preceded her in death on August 30, 1996.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Vickie Willis of Newark, Del.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Steve Comfort of Bloomfield and Vickie and David Green of Dexter; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dan Denny; and by one sister, Irma Leigh Denny.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 9:30-11a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield cemetery with Rev. Don Adams officiating.
