Elva Catherine Radcliffe, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania went home to be with the Lord at the age of 92 on October 27, 2008 at St. Anne's Retirement Community, where she spent the last two months.

Born on July 18, 1916, she was the daughter of A. Earl and Jane Dieter Longenecker of Quarryville, PA. She graduated from Quarryville High School and Lancaster Business School. She started her career as the secretary to the president of Armstrong Cork Co. and experienced various other secretarial jobs throughout her years of working.

Elva was happily married for 35 years to Ralph Gordon Stephens, whom she met at Lancaster Business School and they had two children. Ralph died in 1975. Their daughter, Sandra (Stephens) is married to James Winters of Lancaster, PA. Sandra's daughters are Amanda Patton and boyfriend Manny Zorra of Erie, PA; Jessica Rittenhouse, who is married to William Rittenhouse from Lancaster, PA, and 9 step-grandchildren. Their son, John G. Stephens, D.D.S. is married to Marlene Stephens of South Burlington, VT. Their three sons are Bryan Stephens married to Ana Stephens from Croton on Hudson, NY, David Stephens D.M.D. and his fiancee, Gabriella Natale of Providence, RI, and Michael Stephens of South Burlington, VT. Her two stepchildren are Jeannie Coe and Remmington Radcliffe of Ohio.

Elva's great grandchildren are Chandler Myers, Catherine, Courtney, and Corynn Rittenhouse, and Parker and Samantha Stephens. She is survived by one sister, Margaret Gorman, of Port Charlotte, FL.

Her predeceased siblings are Stanley Longenecker, Betty Lyon, Gordon Longenecker, and Richard Longenecker.

Elva then married Remington Radcliffe. They resided in East Petersburg for 24 years before his death. They both enjoyed creating stained glass art work. They reconstructed and restored twelve church windows for Faith United Methodist Church, of which they were founding members.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Lancaster, and St. Anne's Retirement Community for their compassionate, excellent care.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at Faith United Methodist Church 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, Saturday, November 1, at 12:00 noon. Reception following the service. Interment in Paradise following reception.
