FRED AVENT DUNN
Fred Avent Dunn, 74, of Lexington died of a heart attack at his residence on Monday, October 4, 1999.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lexington. Rev. Horace Choate officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington with Southern Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A native of Grenada County, he was a retired Criminal Investigator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the Pacific Theatre; and a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lexington.
Mr. Dunn was a 1942 graduate of Central High School in Jackson; a 1949 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelors degree in business administration; member KA Fraternity, and a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge #24.
Survivors include: wife, Elaine Dunn of Lexington; sons, Mike Dunn of Gulfport and Pat Dunn of Mobile, Alabama; daughter, Carol Dunn Roark of Enid; brothers, Tommy Dunn and Wheeler Dunn, both of Jackson, and Bobby Dunn of San Antonio, Texas; a step-brother, Milton Fairchild of Las Vegas, Nevada: sister, Mildred Russell of Birmingham, Alabama, and step sister, Jackie Stanford of Gulfport; and three grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were A. B. Holder, Dick Temple, Tony Woo, Terry Brown, Tony Mansoor, and Max Yates.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Campbell, W. P. McWilliams, Herman Flowers, Fred Powers, Woodson Earle, Homer Daniel and Louis King.
