SISTER AFRA IS TAKEN AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS
After an illness of but three days, Sister Afra, well known to many Manitowoc
people, died at the Holy Family hospital yesterday. Influenza-pneumonia was
the cause of death.
Sister Afra, who was 35 years of age at the time of death, taught the upper
grades of the St. Boniface Catholic school in this city for more than eight
years, leaving the school three years ago when ill health forced a vacation.
After a year of convalescence Sister Afra took up teaching in the Alverno
school near Silver Lake and taught there up until a few days ago. She had been
in the sisterhood for more than 17 years, and was born in Lancaster, Ohio, where
her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Guisinger, live. She is also survived by two
brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the convent at Silver Lake tomorrow morning.
