He was born in Gaston County on June 21, 1918, to the late Robert Chalmers and Sarah Eaker Dameron.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Bessemer City, with Dr. Mike Johnston officiating.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City.
Interment will be at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
Lee was a retired self employed dairyman and gardner. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Lee was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City and a former elder. He was a member of Whetstine Masonic Lodge #515 and Woodmen of the World. Lee was also a former member of Gaston County Soil and Conservation Board and a former member of the Farm Bureau Board. He was a generous man who shared the bounty of his gardens with many. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include sons, Ernest Lee "Ernie" Dameron Jr. and wife Vickie, Harold W. Dameron all of Bessemer City; stepsons: John and Pete Propst of Florida; brother: Ira Dameron and wife Iris of Bessemer City; grandchildren: Ernest "Lee" Dameron III of Charlotte, David Russell Dameron of Bessemer City, Wesley "Craig" Dameron of Bessemer City, Sarah "Kathryn" Dameron of Bessemer City; five stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren, all of Florida.
He was preceded in death by wives, Viola Walker Dameron and Ollie Propst Dameron; and brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 202 N. 11th Street, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
